Created in 2015 at the retirement of longtime residency director, Richard Hansell, the Richard S. Hansell Resident Education Fund provides a critical resource for obstetrics and gynecology residents at Indiana University. This endowed fund will help enrich their training, making it possible for them to launch into successful careers and serve women in Indiana and beyond. Gifts made will be invested and the income will support OB/GYN residents at IU in perpetuity.

Dick Hansell graduated with his MD from IU School of Medicine in 1980 and led a prestigious career, earning national recognition and admiration. He joined IU School of Medicine in 1986 and served in many capacities, retiring in 2014 after workign with hundreds of residents as the department's residency director. Dr. Hansell was beloved and a passionate advocate for trainees' needs. This fund will continue his vision by engaging residents in national conferences and research.
