The ATM helps researchers, artists and cultural activists pursue greater understanding, new ideas, and community building. We have played a leading role in preserving recordings of cultural significance and providing access to patrons around the world for more than 70 years, while training generations of IU students in best practices for archiving, librarianship, and cultural documentation.
Our holdings reflect the diverse world we live in and represent nearly 130 years of audiovisual media. Examples include some of the oldest recordings from China, thousands of recordings from the African continent and the diaspora, and one of the world’s largest collections of indigenous culture and language recordings.
Your generosity helps us continue to preserve these recordings and further our efforts to make them discoverable and accessible.
