IUF Crowdfunding

Highlights

Since 2013, Paws’ Pantry has assisted thousands of IUPUI students, faculty, and staff in meeting their basic needs. The pantry supplies food and personal hygiene products to any Jaguar who needs it – no questions asked. Food pantries are an essential service – especially as we continue to endure the impacts of covid-19. By supporting Paws’ Pantry, you make a direct, positive impact on the lives in our IUPUI community.

More Info

Paws’ Pantry was established by IUPUI students in 2013 who saw a need and wanted to help. Since the pantry’s opening, thousands of students, faculty, and staff have been able to meet their basic needs, and our community continues to take steps forward to ensuring no Jaguar goes hungry. In 2019, we distributed more than 38,000 items from the pantry. For IU Day, we encourage you to lend a paw and help fight food insecurity on IUPUI’s campus.

Paws’ Pantry completely relies on donations – both monetary and in-kind – and volunteers to operate. When we say every dollar matters, we mean it. Every cent goes to ensuring we can supply the pantry with enough food and hygiene products to meet our community’s needs. In a recent survey of 3,000 students, we learned that one in five IUPUI freshmen are considered food insecure, and 43.3 percent of students reported experiencing low or very low levels of food security in the past 30 days. This tells us there’s still work to be done.

The covid-19 pandemic continues to impact our communities, and we need your support now more than ever. A $25 donation can buy: 100 packages of Ramen cups, 25 boxes of mac and cheese (50+ servings), or 8 boxes of General Mills cereal (about 360 servings). And these are only a few examples of how a little can go a long way. Because of donors like you, we can continue to keep our shelves full, doors open, and community served.

Paws’ Pantry is overseen by staff and students within the Office of Student Advocacy and Support at IUPUI. This office was established in 2016 in order to further advocate for and support students’ needs. The Paws brand has expanded to provide a clothing closet, textbook loan program, and one-on-one advocacy and support services to assist and empower students in overcoming obstacles. In 2018, Paws’ Pantry moved to its current location in the IUPUI Campus Center, which offers a larger space and an enhanced shopping experience.
