More Info

Through efforts like College Advising Corps (CAC), the IU Center for Rural Engagement and the IU Office of Enrollment Management are increasing opportunities for Indiana students. By placing near-peer college advisers in underserved Indiana high schools, we are helping students imagine their future and make a plan.

Collaborating with principals, counselors, and teachers, CAC advisers ensure that all high school seniors, regardless of their circumstance, have a postsecondary plan that fits their goals. They guide students and their families through the college search, standardized test prep, campus visits, applications, essay writing, FAFSA completion, scholarship research, and the successful transition to post-secondary education.

Only in its second year, the success of the program has garnered attention from other high schools and has received requests for additional advisers. Your gift can help the CAC effort provide additional advisers and assist even more Indiana high school students in finding their post-secondary path.

Four advisers are currently working with six high schools across the state, including:

  • Crawford County High School (Crawford County)
  • George Washington High School (Marion County)
  • Paoli Junior-Senior High School (Orange County)
  • Shoals Junior-Senior High School (Martin County)
  • Warren Central High School (Marion County)
  • Washington High School (Daviess County)

"The ultimate success for me is getting all of my students into post-secondary education, whether that's a four-year institution or a two-year institution. I just want to make sure that my students are in the best position to be successful in life." -Greg Fletcher, College Advising Corps adviser

Together, we can create a stronger Indiana. Join us by making a gift that helps Hoosiers thrive.

*IU Bloomington College Advising Corps is supported by the IU Office of Enrollment Management, the IU Center for Rural Engagement, Ivy Tech Community College, AmeriCorps, Regional Opportunity Initiatives, Inc., and College Advising Corps
